Sept 5- Continued

Wednesday:

Slowly but surely we’re getting a hang of teaching here! And of the kids. We’re starting to recognize some and everything! And yes they still say HELLO. HELLO TEACHER! It’s pretty fun. Especially when they tackle you in a hug- that’s my favorite! Some of them are just adorable.

Wednesday I only taught Grade 3 Class Something, and that was pretty fun. I cut up colored paper for them to write on, which they don’t usually get [the past foreign teachers left a ton… which we’ve about used up now, yikes], and I had them write down their English names for me on it. They loved that! It took a while though.

Oh best parts: So there were two Andys in that class. And one of them did NOT like that, so after a while of trying to communicate [quite the adventure with kids!], I got to give him a new name. Yay! They didn’t like the first one I tried- Connor, for my brother. There was already a Jake in the class for my other brother… so the next name I thought of was Demetri. I showed them the name, and he approved! I already named my first Chinese kid, yay!

Okay and one more: so there’s this chubby and extremely active kid Eaddy [they all spell their names super odd, I know], who is quite the little punk but sweet to me and good with the ladies… anyways this is for my family and Eddy Ramirez- Eddy and Eaddy are basically two peas in a pod I kid you not. I could NOT get over the similarities all day, I promise. It was so funny! I would look back, and he would scoot his chair up next to a girl. Next time, he’d be running into the wall and coming to me for a kiss or something, or just riling up the kids and making them laugh. It was ridiculous.

Anyways, Activity Time sort of didn’t happen- Katie chased maybe 4 boys around for a little bit, but that was it. It was definitely a bit of a rainy day though! So rainy…

Nicole asked us to help her teach her International Class on Wednesday evenings, but there is no class for that this first week since they didn’t have their textbooks yet, so we didn’t end up doing that. Instead, we invited her to our place to hang out.

Unfortunately we didn’t have too much to do, to be honest. But we talked for a bit, hung out, showed pictures on our phones to each other, planned some shopping for Friday, and then introduced her to some American films- we ended up watching She’s The Man. Which is HILARIOUS I don’t care what anyone says. And she enjoyed it also, thank goodness!

But that was fun, Nicole is so great and friendly. We’re so lucky to have her as our liaison and our friend.
