Wednesday-
Just when you think you have it figured it out, they swipe
it up from you!
The saying goes something like that, right?
I slept terribly for some reason [probably the honking loud
traffic right below], and was up early but too groggy to actually do anything,
even move. So I hung around there for a bit before digging into my book,
Russka. I didn’t have too much else to do, after all- I didn’t have a class
till 3.
Katie had one at about 11, so she got ready to leave and was
there by 10. Lucky her because shortly after arriving, one of the kids from her
Friday class grabbed her by the hand and led her to the classroom. Because
guess what?
They changed Friday classes to today!
Who knew?
We sure didn’t!
Of course Katie had no time to call me until her sudden
class was finished. It was 11 then, 10 minutes before my class was to start!
Katie was willing to help out, thank goodness. I was trying to stumble around
on the phone with her as I tried changing [doesn’t really work] about my Grade
5 class. I was out of the house in literally five minutes, heading out.
The elevator was slow, so I ran down nine flights of stairs.
The other short elevator into the street wasn’t working [the one on the left
refused to acknowledge there was a fourth floor and the other one acknowleged
it all right, but couldn’t shut its door or more elsewhere. So I took to the
lane and luckily found another way out as it started to rain. Perfect
conditions!
Luckily, I was there about ten minutes into the class. Or
game time, as I should put it.
Abby and Katie were there, goofing around with the kids with
I Spy. I think Katie controlled my class better, which kind hurt but hey, I
didn’t really end up doing much and I can take from her so it’s really
helpful. Katie instigated another game
as I tried to gather my breath some more, getting the kids to run up to the
chalkboard and find the correct letter. She was out of games after that, but I
brought up Pictionary which always
works, so we did that for another ten minutes as well. And because they were
good, we played the first five minutes of Tangled at the end!
That was my teaching day. Not a lot to it, really. I think
it confused the kids when I showed up and didn’t do anything, but I didn’t have
anything planned [I still don’t have the correct book for them either, I just
find helpful American categories of things to discuss], and I think they
deserve a game day. I mean, hey they’re about to go on break for a three day
weekend, you know?
So that finished, and we went over for lunch which was
pretty decent, and sat with Magi again. She’s such a doll! We really have to
hang out with her soon, but she’s so busy- most teachers are at the school
until about 11 PM, it’s terrible.
Then we were on our computers for about 2ish hours trying to
find things to do this weekend since we ran out of plans. We came up with a few
but nothing too promising so we finally game home to chill out. Katie went
through another tourist book we have here and I napped- then we went over for
dinner, which was just a few measly left overs with plenty of rice. Pretty
lame, but hey it’s food! Then we looked
over some more possibilities for this weekend- possibly getting dinner with
Philip on Saturday, lots of shopping, and tomorrow we’re trying to hit up the
Qingyan Ancient Town. If we can sort out the right bus system anyways! Haha…
So we came home after getting some more snacks and food for
the night. Katie trimmed my hair, yay! Then I went at the layers myself…
definitely went on a bit of a joyride there, but nothing too bad happened,
thank goodness! It was very refreshing after a shower and we sat together to
read for the next three or so hours. She’s reading a book by Ayn Rand and I
started up Game of Thrones. No idea why… It’s very odd. Nothing spectacular
about it so far, I’ve read many of its similarities before. But hey if it can
keep me busy for 3+ hours, I guess it’s not too bad, eh?
