Breakfast again, yay! Good as usual, too! Thank goodness!
I took a bit or two back with me to the office, as well,
even though I was definitely stuffed! But it’s all so good… anyways, I also
filled up my water bottle in the cafeteria because we’ve been out of water
since Monday morning at our apartment, and Nicole was out of town so we
couldn’t quite contact her just yet. Tricky situation, but we’ve made do!
For some reason, Katie didn’t end up teaching! Lucky girl!
But she was disappointed, they were one of her good classes and time is
beginning to run out.
I taught still. Grade 5 loves blasting their music and
dancing around before I arrive, and that gets a little insane. I don’t even
know if they’re allowed to be playing it… I should probably find out… oh well.
They were still a little insane but a little better than usual. Still not good
enough for DVD time, mind you.
We ate lunch at the school and returned to the office,
because we were again teaching Abby and Greg’s classes that day [they went on
their anniversary trip!]. I began writing a piece of a story and on our own
times we ended up watching that first X-Men movie to entertain us.
The first class we taught for the kids went pretty awkward-
they didn’t really want to do a lot of talking and we couldn’t get them engaged
at all. It was very frustrating, and there was no even ground with them. Still,
they didn’t exactly misbehave so there’s a bonus for that.
We had an hour to ourselves after that awkward occasion,
watching pieces of show and fiddling on our computers and such. Then, opposed
to last time, we switched classes and I ended up teaching Abby’s Grade 8 class.
Katie’s went okay, except the tiny kid in the class was
pretty cocky and stupid and bothering the class. Mine went all right- the kids
were excited to try out a new teacher, but it did take a while for me to begin
class and explain what’s up. Like last time, I pulled up a trivia game I’d used
for my past classes. I had a kid or two complain because the questions were
super easy, but that may be because I also use it for Grade 3…], but still
there were some tricky questions and I taught them a new word or two!
They were good enough for a few minutes of DVD, so they
pulled up The Golden Compass to end the class with, and overall it wasn’t a
failure or anything bad! Yay! Dull, actually, but not terrible and that’s the
important thing.
With no further obligations, we headed home to find
something else to use our time with. We grabbed bakery bread on the way home,
ran into a few students and had a few awkward conversations out in the streets,
and then we were in the apartment!
Our laundry machine definitely gets a good bit moody because
we put some clothes in and it only works on occasion. Afterwards we closed with
Slumdog Millionaire, which sort of impressed us both. We fiddled on our own
network connections and notebooks before calling it a night.
