Sunday!
I was exhausted and ignored my alarm for almost an hour
until I heard Katie moving and realized I should probably get up.
We practiced the song maybe twice, I reminded her on the
words, and then we started getting ready for church.
Didn’t take too long- here there’s no one to really impress
so its just a few minutes.
We met up with abby and greg and it was fun watching her
move around, planning the night’s Christmas party- super exciting!
The program started and Katie and I did pretty awesome. The
rest of the program went pretty well- heard a few kids singing, super cute.
Then Sunday school but something was wrong and we literally couldn’t understand
the second half so we spent a bit of it talking and planning… yeah…
Afterwards we went home. We watched a few episodes of modern
family and then started repacking and checking the weight on everything-
brought home their scale. It took a few hours, but I sorted through just about
everything and stuffed it all in finally to be just below the weight limit,
hallelujah! Hopefully I don’t buy anything more heavy… or bulky because I’m
about out of space.
In the middle of that Katie started skyping Andrew and I was
done so I emailed my missionaries for a good while and all…. Then we watched
another episode of Modern Family before we started getting ready for the
evening party- lots of texting magi and abby and greg.
We headed over and were just climbing into the elevator when
magi called. So we went back out to find her. I ran into her first, she was already
in the area, so she went down the steps to grab Katie, and there she gave us
Christmas gifts! Lovely little silver pendants for our clothes that her dad
made for us! How sweet!
Back to the elevator and we said hello to abby and greg.
They were almost ready, so we put our things down and did what we could. We
used their heater to melt more butter and spread on bread to make garlic toast.
Then we enjoyed some delicious sugar roasted nuts that greg had made- super
good! And tried not to be in the way.
Soon yoyo arrived, and then their friend Megan with her
Chinese friend.
We all sat down to eat, a little crowded but still awesome.
It was so good! We had spaghetti- with huge chunks of tomatos and red onions
and it was so sweet and yummy. And the garlic toast was perfect, too! I think
everyone enjoyed it.
Finished with that, we cleaned up and passed around a few
gifts. Besides the pendants from Magi, Abby and Greg gave Katie and I little
Chinese pins, sweets in our stockings, and then framed pictures of Chinese
writing of our states! Of course, I know the name for California has several
characters [because its just that great, obviously], so her translation said it
was a shortened version. Didn’t make too much sense to yoyo but hopefully
that’s just because she doesn’t know about California? Either way, I think its
awesome! I can’t wait to hang it up back home.
Afterwards, we moved the furniture and crowded around to
watch the Polar Express. Abby also pulled out dessert- delicious banana fudge
and apple crisp. So good. We ended up taking some fudge home. And eating a ton
of it. It was a little ridiculous and I know I was a hog- sorry, you two- but
it really was good and when it comes to the holidays, I’m desperate for it all.
The movie ended and everyone left. Felt really bad about not
cleaning up, hopefully it all went well for them that night.
Magi dragged us out of the building though, basically at a
run. Rushed to the pharmacy because she’s not feeling great, and then walked
home together with us. She adores Katie, after all, loves her. Its kind of
amusing when its not annoying.
Then we got inside, and hurried to use the heater and
realized we’re out of water. Again! But we did get a water ticket from abby and
greg because they had an extra, so hopefully we’ll get more in the morning!
We curled up on my bed for some more modern family and
called it a night!
