Before, we had planned to do conference with Abby and Greg,
so they texted us to figure out the game plan. It had been suggested by the
church area here in China to do it at the right time, dressed up, for at least
one of the conference sessions.
This time it would be at our place so we were dressed and
ready to go before 10. However something happened and Abby and Greg didn’t show
up for nearly half an hour, wandering around the area before we showed them up
to our place. We sat down, spread out some snacks, and listened to conference!
Unfortunately, my download was incomplete after about one
talk. Luckily, Greg had downloaded a few copies himself so we switched out
computers. Their video shorted out soon as well, so we just listened to the
audio of Sunday morning’s session a week ago. I thought it was great, very
relaxing and insightful.
Afterwards, there was a huge discussion on equality during
conference. Which to be honest, bored me a good bit. It’s not all about
equality, you know? Protests aren’t going to fix it and no, I’m not
particularly dying to attend the Priesthood session. Yeah, the discussion went
on way too long and Katie managed to point out we were going to the school to
use the computers a bit, so that got everyone out the door.
We spent the next three hours or so downloading the other
sessions properly onto our computers then to my thumb drive. That took the
longest. So we did a spot of reading, more emailing, and fiddling around. Katie
is still working on her class list, for example.
Finally there was dinner, which was very uneventful, as
school weekend meals always are. We met up with Abby and Greg for that as well
and headed back with them as well discussing the perks of aging. Then we split
ways, came back to trim my hair [it’s growing way too fast, I swear], eat
snacks and listen to more conference! Yay!
