Wednesday!
Still absolutely crazy about Halloween, basically.
Absolutely insane.
We decided to do a little party the next night for the kids-
whichever ones could make it, anyways. We started planning things out a bit,
figuring out what we would need to buy.
I had a single class that day and they almost didn’t get
candy! But then I let them because I didn’t really want to keep it all… then I
hung around while Katie taught her class and worked on a slide for the older
class- Halloween Superstitions.
Dinner was fine and then we went up to teach. Finally the
door was unlocked so we would be able to teach after all. Except that shortly
after turning on the lights, one of them burnt out- yes it was smoking- and so
we had no lights to work with! So there was no book reading to be done.
So we dived into Katie’s slide which, related to the book,
was about Thanksgiving. Particularly, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. We started on that, even showed a few videos,
and then went onto my presentation- where we warned the kids we would be asking
questions about later! And I thought they were studiously taking notes, except
that they were really doing the homework pages from the books! Lame!
I thought my slide was awesome. It was hard to explain
“superstitions” though. And then we pulled out our candy and the slide with
questions and we had like three people do awesome but most of the time they
pretty much sucked on it, which was ridiculous… We got rid of a bit of candy though.
We played about 10-15 minutes of Casper Meets Wendy and gave each of them a
piece of candy [and yes we still had some left over].
Not too bad overall, I suppose.
Eventually we got home although it felt so late. We had
borrowed ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’ from Abby and Greg, who kindly handled over a
few of their movies for our enjoyment, and watched that with a good bit of
candy before crashing into bed.
