Our beds are so great; it was hard getting out of them that
morning! But there was a part of us ready to get up and going, ready to be back
on a schedule!
We only had later classes so we didn’t leave early by any
means- but that kept us starving! Well Katie, mostly. So we went through a ton
of left over snacks to enjoy! Three rice cake things. Shaped like a little tube
or something, I don’t know.
Besides eating, we didn’t do too much. I mostly had to start
journaling about the last week! So much to catch up on, it was insane! Katie
had to pull out her journal to remind me of a few things that had happened and
such.
Finally, it was almost noon so we dressed [we only have so
many clothes to choose from so we’re usually both ready in 10 minutes which is awesome!],
and headed to the school. It was pretty nice to be back, until Abby returned
and ranted how bad her first class had gone.
That worried us a little, but of course the kids are going
to be crazy after their break. Katie and I took our time enjoying lunch before
returning to our desks and trying to plan a few lessons. I pushed back Abby’s
words to the back of my mind for my first Grade 3 class.
It actually went pretty darn well! They behaved. They were
good enough for a DVD… except we ran out of time. It makes me feel SO bad
realizing that every time! So I’ve started writing down the time we would start
watching the DVD if they are good, so the kids pay attention to the time for me
which is a bit of a help.
My next class was terrible. Nothing much ended up happening.
I love the kids to death, but it’s my bad class, Grade 3 Class 2. So much
chaos. Man they love high fives though…
I was done teaching and Katie went off to teach. Her time
went a lot like mine- one good and one not so great. Meanwhile, the internet
broke down in our offices which was LAME. At least I had downloaded a book,
Ender’s Game, so I read that for a few hours.
Then we got together for dinner which was pretty tasty.
After that, activity time! My kids have taken to tickling
me! Such menaces. Some of them really love it, though, and as long as they
don’t do it while I’m teaching, I’m okay with it. They like us teachers chasing
them around, so it’s some fun over all. Although I got about four boys with
Katie who love giving really hard high fives! They’re my kids, I can’t remember
which class, though. Anyways we made a big show of doing big high fives- which
also spare our poor palms a minute or two. I have extra white skin so my hands
were definitely red at the end!
Then they started doing some random announcement or other,
so we picked up and left. They use the song ‘Jingle Bells’ during a ton of
announcements and such, we have no idea. But Katie started singing it and so we
ended arguing about Christmas songs for a bit, and that I’ll refuse to play any
until December.
Anyways, I got her to watch some of my few Community
episodes for the evening, which she loved and we spent the whole time laughing!
So our first day back wasn’t too terrible overall.
