Though we had the chance to sleep in, we didn’t really. I
ended up showering, and chilling out on the couch before Katie came to join me.
We dug into this new loaf of bread we bought from the bakery. About the same
size as the last ones, but cheaper! It had two yellow thin stripes of some sort
of cream or frosting maybe. Turns out, it was like banana frosting or paste or
other. Most of the bread was pretty plain- but it definitely grew on me, and I
liked it.
We spent the morning chatting before finally getting up and
ready for the day.
Our internet wasn’t working again in the office, so we
texted Nicole about it, who go their maintenance guys over for that. It worked!
Messed with my computer more than I liked, but it wasn’t terrible. Yay
internet!
Katie and I felt silly though, for how much we rely on it. But hey, I
do need it to teach!
We plotted out our International lesson- Nicole likes us
using the DVD show pieces, and then we do the Activity page, and try to talk
about American stuff with that, so we tried coming up with some things we could
talk about. Eventually we made a PowerPoint each. Katie’s of American
transportation and I worked on American state stereotypes.
Did that for a while, then Katie had to go teach. My
internet still had some issues, so I used hers and found some songs she’d been
looking for. After that, I started reading a bit and finally had my own Grade 3
Class 1 of the day.
They turned out to be pretty good- I had like four of the
boys come by before and then I was the one trying to get them to class, it was
silly. Anyways, we got started. The ‘sitting down- stand up’ instruction game
didn’t go over too well this time, which sucked. But they liked my little
Halloween slide I brought up. I did pictures of candy, costumes and decorations
to fill up time, before diving into their lesson books a little- which they
totally groaned about. But eventually I got them all out. They reviewed a few
things then yelled for their rightfully won DVD [tv show piece thing]. I tried
to give them enough time for 2, but they can never decide [I had forgotten
about that somehow], so it took them most of the time trying to decide! It was
very frustrating. I might try to randomly choose one for them next time to
hurry it up, we’ll see.
What else? We eventually went to dinner, and then went to
play with the kids- the last few nights, there were almost no kids out there,
just a few of mine on the little playground. But finally Katie found some of
her kids, and more of my kids were wandering around there, which was nice. So
we headed out and goofed around for a bit. Lisa eventually found me and
commandeered most of my attention, but I tried to include all the kids. Katie
eventually came over and they did some weird version of Duck, Duck, Goose which
includes putting a piece of paper by them to get them to go chase them?
Anyways, we did that for a few minutes before we had to run up and get ready
for our International class.
Nicole had had a meeting and needed to eat, so she didn’t
end up staying in the classroom with us. Which overall, really seemed to help
us, in a way, I think. Almost not, but did? The kids have slowly been getting
louder in whispering and talking to each other, and we hadn’t been too sure how
to address it. So today, we were yelling to be heard, and were super sick of
that. We kept wandering around to point out to them to be quiet. For once, we
didn’t even get through half my presentation because of everything.
We ended class with Katie asking if there was anything they
would like to be doing in class with us. Someone did mention music, because we
usually do a song at the end of each class. SO I used it into a teaching tool-
they were too noisy which slowed down our lesson, meaning no time for a song.
Hopefully that'll make them think twice!
And we just don’t like trying to scold them or anything with
Nicole there, it’s just odd…
Anyways, we were done with that, yay!
We spent a little more time in the office and some of my
boys found us there, and wandered in for a few minutes. They LOVE giving hard
hand fives that burn everyone’s palms. Not cool! Haha, but it’s okay…
Soon we
were done there as well, and we headed out into the night. We got home, and for
once decided not to watch a movie [crazy, I know], so I cleaned up my new
bright yellow little suitcase, and put in my new things that I’m saving for
America- a few clothes for me and a few gifts. They fit in less than half of my
carry on. It’s crazy! And we’ve already been here a 3rd of our time.
I think most of the money has definitely been going to food, it would seem.
Very tasty food, of course!
This night closed with us reading, and enjoying a few final
snacks. Katie made the wise choice to go to bed somewhat early whereas I made
the mistake to dawdle behind and chill out on the computer for a few extra
hours. Oops!
