Friday! We were up a little earlier than usual to head to
school in time, and made it over with the sun shining brightly on us. Thank
goodness, because we were getting cold and none of my hoodies were doing the
job!
I fiddled around on the internet for a bit until my class,
Grade 5. Stupid chair set up again. Their teacher also kept teaching until the
bell rang for my class to begin. I felt bad, so I ended up starting almost 10
minutes late because a ton of kids had to go use the restroom. Unless they just
didn’t want to be in my class… but I think they were all there. It’s seriously
one of my better classes.
We went over weather and such, I had a huge slide that I’d
talk about for a minute or two, and ask them questions. They LOVE pictures of
surfing, wakeboarding, things like that. I loved their responses, but there was
still some kids talking in the background [I could NOT reach them], and a few
papers out- which as a rule for my Grade 4 and 5, no books or papers are
allowed on their desks since I don’t have their book or anything so they
shouldn’t have anything].
Still, it wasn’t too bad. And the slide went a lot faster
than I expected, and I kind of pushed for the kids to get an A+ to watch the
video… it happens sometimes, okay? I wait for them to quiet down and give them
a good grade sometimes, haha… Anyways, so that happened. I had grabbed a quick
cartoon of a Halloween episode with Donald Duck, so we watched that.
There were still about two minutes left of class, so I tried
reviewing the video a little bit, and drew a few pictures up there [yikes, I’m
definitely artist], and we got that sorted out a little bit before the bell
rang. It was perfect! Great class!
Katie and I headed to lunch and talked a ton whilst on the
computer [I made us drool looking at pictures of chocolate chip cookies- bad
idea], and finally headed out to Wal-Mart!
It took us about two hours, because we took the route we
thought Abby and Greg said they take but then we ended up walking the whole way
back and to Wal-Mart which was a little crazy. Anyways, we got there and bought
3 big bags of candy each. Which is enough for each of our kids to have 1 piece,
and our good classes 2. We spent about 50-60 RMB each which wasn’t too bad, but
still. It was ridiculous! And then carrying that down the street…
First off, we went through their little Halloween pile, too,
which was a ton of fun and took Katie forever [“I’m a philosopher halloween is stupid…” in a nice really funny way], but we got some things and are excited
to play around with the kids for it! We grabbed another thing or two- apple
juice and red date yogurt which Katie is obsessed with, and then left.
Oh we stopped at KFC. They gave Katie a hot milk tea drink
with boba or something, super weird. And they didn’t even have a big enough
straw for the boba. Then I tried this grape currant juice… Grape and almost
fruity but not, so I didn’t finish that [I’ve never liked grape juice, ever],
so that was depressing and we pledged to never do KFC again].
Then we walked and walked and walked with our heavy stuff to
the bus stop and back home! We stopped at the school for dinner, finished up
things on the computers, and headed home. Then we ended up talking forever
until bed.
