Oct 14 2013: It's Monday

A pretty normal Monday in China!

Katie and I finished up General Conference this morning, dressed up, and headed out about noon. Her knee has started bothering her again [keeping her on allergy pills for a while, and anti-inflammatory medication as well], and we’re really hoping the same thing does NOT happen. Super odd. No idea what’s up with that…

Anyhowzen, we ate lunch [nothing interesting, and fiddled on our computers. I decided to use the same lesson as I did a bit last week, so I didn’t need to prepare anything. However I had read through one of my old unfinished stories the night before, so I dedicated my time to piecing that together and trying to finish it up- it was a silly old project that I started five years ago, and was so close- it just needed a few more pieces!

Finally it was time for class. Very confusing because the phone I was given isn’t on universal or whatever. The computers are off, as well as the classroom clocks. How do you tell your schedule? By listening to the ringing-like bell. It warns when class is about to start, when class starts and when class ends.

My first Grade 3 class was a bit of a disaster. I got through the PowerPoint at least. They were very noisy but I got a few words out of some of them. But I feel the kids have only been getting crazier- had another kid crying again because someone punched him in the nuts. No idea how to fix that, but he didn’t want to go anywhere  so in class he stayed.

But yeah, they definitely didn’t get a good grade. At least half the class cared, though.

Then came my terrible class, and terrible they were. I tried everything I could think of, but it started bad with two kids wrestling and I couldn’t separate them and it stayed about there for the rest of class. Kids running around, out of the room, on the floor. I had a few come up and recite school pages to me after I turned off the PowerPoint because they just weren’t listening at all, but that isn’t best either because then I can’t talk to the rest of the class going crazy.

So classes were nuts this Monday, as usual. Very glad to be done! I relaxed with working on my old story project as Katie worked with her troublesome classes, too. When she finished, we ate a nondescript dinner [lots of tofu lately. But at least they brought out rolls just in time], and headed back to our office.

No activity time- but there was some sort of talent show going on! Super cute, most of Katie’s kids with a few of mine. It was in the yard, and some of my kids were on the Chinese flute thing or the piano, and then some of Katie’s kids knew some freaking adorable routines to some songs! We watched them from the second level so definitely not the best view, but we really enjoyed it. The kids are trouble in class but still so precious!

Finally we headed home when the show was done. We got hot drinks and finally found something that almost resembled nor mal cocoa. But then the flavor changed and we still have no idea what it really is. It took me the following three hours to finish my story- I thought it would take me all month at least! But nope, it’s all done, a silly five year project. Hallelujah!

Just another Monday, really.
